Board and Roaster News / New chaff filter
« on: March 20, 2017, 02:10:02 PM »
Hi all

A friend of mine just received a new prototype of a new chaff filter. It it a lot bigger, but still fits into the roaster. It should be alot easier to clean as you easily can take it out, wash it and put it back again.

Have a look at it here. I'm really looking forward to hearing how it works.

General Bullet R1 Talk / Exhaust from the front
« on: March 14, 2017, 11:56:24 AM »
Hi all

I have been roasting aproximately 50-60 kg of coffee on my Bullet by now. In the last couple of month, I have had more and more exhaust from the front then usual. I'm not sure if it's due to the roaster being full of chaffs som place or anything else.

Have anyone experienced anything like that?

Board and Roaster News / Software update
« on: March 07, 2017, 12:45:01 PM »
Hi all,

Jacob just posted the following

have just released a new version of Roast Time. Start Roast Time a few times and it will update automatically. For this new version to work with the Bullet R1 it requires a firmware update. Roast Time will automatically update the Bullet when it is connected.
Please make sure that you start Roast Time when the Bullet is cool. There is a message you should read and only click OK if you are not roasting, as it will shut down the R1 and force the update.

Some of the improvements to the Bullet R1's firmware are:
1) The R1 now buffers data to prevent data loss and wrong sample times for Roast Time. We had to change the USB protocol, which is why the Firmware needs to be updated before it will work.
2) Back to Back roasting now possible. Press F1 during cool and it will go to an Off mode where you can set your pre-heat temperature again while continue to cool the beans. F2 button now toggles the cooling tray fan as well, so you can control the cooling tray with the Fan Up/Down buttons.
3) Method for pre-heat now looks at bean derivative, so should be easier to go to charge mode.
4) Blocked blower fan now reported as A-01 in clock display
5) Dead man's switch now reported as A-02 in clock display
6) A low input voltage now reported in clock display as A-04
7) Stalled blower fan or excessive forced cooling now reported in clock display as A-08. If you get the error message then I am interested in hearing from you :)
8) A Fahrenheit bug was also fixed

For the Roast Time we also have a few improvements. As always, you can see the log file if you go to Settings, the about Tab and click the button.
1) Added option to name the roast instead of using bean name
2) Right click on the roast profile list for more options
3) Double click on the roast profile list to edit. You can edit FC and SC times as well.
4) Analyse function to filter and analyse roasts
5) Bean data bugs fixes with some data not being saved and loaded correctly
6) You can enable / disable graphs by pressing the buttons on the top right corner. If no graphs are shown the first time, then just press the buttons.
7) Fixed bug with roast not asking to save if roasting was started before the USB was attached

I'm crossing my fingers that all Bullets will be updated without problems. Please do NOT pull out the USB cable or power off the Bullet during the updating process, and remember to follow the instructions on the screen. If something goes wrong during the update process then we have a way to help you, just message me on the aillio facebook page.

Roasting Profiles / Hill climbing of a roasting profile :/
« on: February 20, 2017, 05:42:53 PM »
Hi all

I just roasted this roast, and i'm pretty amazed of how the profile can end up looking like that, it's like the roasting lost heat or something. I will try to look at it as well in the new profile tool.

General Bullet R1 Talk / Show your Bullet
« on: February 07, 2017, 02:19:50 PM »
Hi all, it could be interesting to see peoples setup when roasting on the Bullet.

I know some people are roasting ourdoors, no matter the weather, some have build a shed for the roasting, and a bunch of people is roasting in door.

I'm roasting in a small appartment, and i'm always roasting under the range hood. It works really well, though the coffee oils do get on the range hood, so I might be getting a carbon filter to catch all the grease.

On the picture, I tried with an exhaust pipe, but it got to much to put up every second week. So now it's only under the range hood, which works flawlessly.

Cleaning and maintaining / Cleaning the chaff filter
« on: January 26, 2017, 01:28:59 PM »
We all know that you need to clean the chaff filter now and then. I have been doing it with sulfo most og the time, but still I did'nt think it was good enough. So I ended up putting it in some Cafiza, and damn it was dirty. I can only reccomend doing that now and then.

Didnt get a picture, but it was definetely worth it.

Board and Roaster News / Upcoming firmware update
« on: November 21, 2016, 08:51:54 AM »
In one of the coming updates from Aillio to RoastTime and the Firmware, they will bring one of the most wanted updates. Multitasking for the Bullet R1, so we cool a batch of beans, and put the roaster into preheat aswell. The software is being testet at the moment, I will give et a test in the upcoming weekend.

Really looking forward to this feature.

Board and Roaster News / Spam attack
« on: October 31, 2016, 01:25:58 PM »

Unfortunately we just had a small spam attack, there for I had to roll back the database to an earlier version. That has now been done, so we are now back on track :)

Roasting Profiles / ROR keeps declining.
« on: October 31, 2016, 01:25:06 PM »

I just roasted some batches yesterday, for some odd reason I have a problem with hitting really low ROR, it's like its just declining continuously. I don't know if it's a probe failure, but really looking forward to the new one.

Anybody else, who have had some similar problems?

Board and Roaster News / Coffee Navigated - Roasting on the Bullet
« on: October 13, 2016, 08:59:33 AM »
Hi all

A friend of mine, Therese, have collected some information about the Bullet roaster, and how to roast. A lot of the information is from a danish Facebook Group, but she has been so kind to translate it to English. There are some explanations of the 5:5:1:1 theory of roasting, as I have mention in a different post, here.

Have a look at it, it might be worth it.

She is also producing some podcast, but they are in danish aswell. She expect to make an english version in 2017.

You can find the newsletter right here

Right now Aillio is testing the next firmware for the Bullet R1, in this version they should have solved the problem with the roaster entering "charge" mode. The firmware should be available in a few weeks, just need the last testing.

Suggested Improvements / Software wishes
« on: September 11, 2016, 02:36:33 PM »
Hi all

As we are all using the Bullet, we might have some wishes for the software, for future development of the roaster. I will let Jonas know, to watch here now and then, for suggestions.

* Having the origins of the beans, when selecting after the roast (Country)
* When hitting space, and the computer is asleep, the PRS is marked, and the roaster goes to cool mode.
* Being able to run the cooling tray, while preheating the roaster, for more back2back roast.
* Choosing beans, before the start of the roast.
- Ambient Temp and Humidity stay set at last selected setting
- Weight (input) of beans adjustable in 10g increments
- Being able to cancel a FC start, if pushed wrongly.
- Editing inventory, so it overwrites the existing one.
- Complete install file, so you dont have to fiddle with port 0 or 1.
- Being able to mark when the beans starts to turn yellow
- easy toggle between F and C, when roasting.

- stable release that can be ported to Mac...

Modifications / Installing the tryer (danish language)
« on: August 29, 2016, 09:03:11 AM »
Hi all

We had a small come together, and the Aillio, had been so kind to bring along our tryers. So some of them, made a short youtube video, where it's being installed. Hopefully the video talks for it self, as the people are talking danish.

Bullet Showoff / Bullet come together with Aillio
« on: August 29, 2016, 09:01:05 AM »
At saturday, the Danish Bullet Group, had a small come in Jens' garden. We had honour of Aillio participating in our small event. Some people had minor problems with their roaster that got fixed. Others had brought it along, and the roaster still need some seasoning.

A group of us, had all ready ordered the trier, and they had brougt 14 sets fo triers with them. Really looking forward to getting it installed.

We had a really great time, no doubt about that. :D

There will be a small youtube video where it is being installed, but the video is in our native language, sorry for that.
